Phoenix Fitness and Dance

I began teaching at Phoenix Fitness and Dance (Manassas, VA) in January of 2021. I worked with the owner to brand the studio as it opened, including the website, mobile app, studio logo. and marketing material. This studio offers pole fitness, aerial silks, lyra, flexibility, acro, and multiple styles of dance.
I have been editing promotional videos of new instructors and in-house showcases, as well as the full in-house showcase videos themselves.

Arcadia Variety Show is a collection of artists responding to their experience of the on-campus Arcadia project. I edited the full show together, and the aerials performance above is the segment I exclusively edited.

"Arcadia creates a stream of ever-changing music and light by capturing the natural biorhythms of Virginia native plants and converting them through a Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) into sound and light signals."
- Sam Nester, Creator of Arcadia

I worked with graduating senior Olivia McCall on her dance piece Unveil for the GMU Black Voices Project. The dancer was inspired by the strength and vulnerability of Black women.

"The Black Voices project is a storytelling and movement initiative based on lived experiences of students from Mason’s School of Dance. With a process created by Rafael Palacios, artistic director of Afro-Colombian dance company Sankofa Danzafro, to keep artists engaged during COVID-19 lockdowns, and to honor personal stories inspired by racial justice movements around the world, Black Voices Project aims to provide a space for students to translate their words into a movement-based performance, centering around their personal experience."

Conservation Storytelling - Nepal
Our study abroad class collectively worked with Nepali students on a film called Black Peaks about the effects of our climate crisis on Nepal. The film was accepted into the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival 2021. Above is my personal reel from the trip.

How to Get There
Senior Jared Palacios created a film following a Guatemalan immigrant working as a self-starting executive chef in Virginia. I worked on this particular scene.

DC International Film Festival Trailer Competition - Honorable Mention
The Spring 2020 Advanced Editing class of GMU competed to create a trailer for the festival to use on social media. For the first time since this student competition began, they awarded an honorable mention - me!

"One"der Dogs
Friends of Homeless Animals (Aldie, VA) is a no-kill shelter that has been open since 1973. For my senior project I worked with staff and volunteers to create a short video series highlighting some of their long term residents. The term "one"der dog is used by the shelter to indicate the dogs that must live in a home with no other pets.

A Day in the Life
In life we all must wear many hats, or in this case - many shoes.

AFF
Accelerated Free-Fall, or AFF, is one of the first in a line of many jumps in the process of becoming a certified skydiver.

Enough
At some point in everyone's lives we have all felt as though we are not enough. And we have all reached a point where we have had enough.
